I usually write these blogs after I have done something, what I learned, how it turned out, the whole shebang. But this one is a little different.
This one is about something I am about to do, what I hope to learn, and how I think it will play out.
Today marks the first day of spring, and I have decided to use the next 92 days, the whole season, to explore simplicity.
Let me explain.
In 2016, I watched Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things, two guys stripping life down to the essentials. Something in it hit me, and ever since, the idea of minimalism has been floating around in my head.
But here is the thing. Despite the interest, my attempts at actually embracing simplicity have been pretty sketchy.
I have decluttered a few times, chucked out some junk, and had a go at living with less. But I have never fully committed. I have never tested what life feels like when I deliberately strip away the excess, the distractions, and the pointless noise.
The Plan
For the next 92 days, I am stripping things back. Physically, mentally, and digitally.
What I Expect
I have no idea what this will bring, but I have a good feeling about it. Less stress, more focus, and way more space, both in my home and in my head.
At the very least, I will be able to open my office drawer without wrestling with a tangle of random wires, broken pens, and instruction manuals for things I do not even own.
I will be checking in on the blog every couple of weeks to share my progress, what is working, what is not, and whether this experiment is actually making a difference.
I am hoping writing this before I give it a go will act as some kind of accountability and help me follow through.
Let’s see how this goes.
Take Care
