You’re Judging It Wrong

It’s Tuesday 31st March 2026.

End of Q1.

I’ve just spent a couple of hours reviewing the last three months. And here’s the interesting part

Before I did the review, I thought I’d had a poor start to the year.

I felt like I’d slipped. Like things hadn’t quite landed.

That was the story in my head.

It wasn’t true.

The Problem With No Review

Without a proper look back, you default to what’s missing.

What you didn’t do.

What you could have done better.

Where you fell short.

That’s where your brain goes.

And if you stay there long enough, you start believing you’re not making progress.

What Actually Happened

Once I sat down and looked properly, a different picture showed up.

There’s been solid progress.

Some big wins.

The biggest one

I’ve stayed off social media.

Apart from LinkedIn for business, I’ve not been scrolling, not wasting time on rubbish.

And the impact has been massive.

Calmer.
More focused.
More time for things that actually matter.

The Bit Most People Miss

I’ve got so used to this version of me

That I forgot what the old version felt like.

That’s the danger.

Progress becomes normal.
So you stop noticing it.

Then you start telling yourself you’re not doing well.

Going Into Q2

Before you charge into the next quarter stop.

Look back properly.

Not quickly. Not emotionally. Properly.

Find the wins. Even the small ones.

Because they’re there.

And once you see them, you move into Q2 with a different level of belief.

You’re probably doing better than you think.

You’ve just not stopped long enough to see it.
