Reflet and Regroup

Recently, I have had trouble writing my blogs. I have completed almost 300 over the last few years, and I used to love it. Now, not so much. In fact, I can take it a step further. Recently, I began to hate it.

I would sit down at the laptop to write one, and my mind would go blank, and the feelings of frustration would rise. At that point, the younger version of me would bin blogging as "not my thing" and move on. The now version of me sticks with it. Why? Because it is all part of the process of growth.

So, what does this have to do with you?

Well, if you are struggling with keeping some habit going, have fallen out of love with a thing you once loved to do and have lost your flow, this is not a sign to quit; it's a sign to reflect and regroup.

So, how do you reflect and regroup? Well, let me share how I do it.

The first thing I do is reflect on why I started doing it in the first place. I began to blog to give me more confidence in my writing; I could have done better at English in school, so blogging allowed me to improve. It also helps me clarify how to put an idea out there, which has helped me with my speaking and doing videos. One skill I believe all business owners need to develop is copywriting, and blogging helps with that. That is my Why.

Secondly, I regroup. Regrouping looks at the process to see if we have let anything slip or if tweaks are needed. When I looked at how I was doing it, it became really obvious really quickly I had stopped a crucial part of my process; I had stopped writing ideas down when they came to me. I used to have an idea and then jot it down in the notes app on my phone. That had stopped. Once I realised this, it felt like a relief. The idea for this blog came at 425am at the gym. I jotted it down, and then 30 minutes or so after getting back home, it's written.

So the next time you feel stuck, frustrated, lacking flow, and tempted to give up, remember it's part of the growth process; keep going, do the reflect and regroup exercise, and you will be back in flow in no time at all.
