In just over 24 hours, I head off for my summer break. This year, that takes the form of a five-week road trip through France and Spain to Ibiza for three weeks, followed by another week on the road, taking in more of Spain and France on the way back.
The idea of a five-week rustic trip, camping, staying in fincas, and spending time in places mostly unvisited by other humans may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love it.
I have done the all-inclusive holidays and hated them. Lounging on a sunbed all day, getting stuffed at the buffet and enduring screaming kids and loud fellow holidaymakers. All I did was come back sicker and thinker, and a week after returning home, I was just as stressed out as I was before I went.
Well, a few years back, I changed how I used my summer break, and it made a huge difference to my overall wellness and fitness. I started to see it as a great opportunity to take some time to work on yourself, and this year will be no exception.
So, what does this have to do with you?
Well, I am sure most of you will be taking a holiday at some point over the summer. But what if you considered your break a chance to become a better version of yourself this year?
Just think about what you could do in a couple of weeks:
👉Eat healthily.
👉Exercise more.
👉Read a good personal development book.
👉Plan the second half of the year.
👉Reduce your use of social media.
👉Connect with the people you go away with.
All without the distractions of day-to-day life. From much experience, you will come back as a different person, healthier, calmer, more focused, and ready to crush the second part of the year.
All you need to do is set a few intentions about how you want to use the break and do the things you need to do to make that happen.
This year, I will focus on improving my cardio fitness through running, starting to write another online course on nutrition, and reading a book I have wanted to read for some time.
There will still be time to relax and do some fun stuff, and that's important too. But using your summer break to return a better version of yourself is a smart move.
Take Care
