The Summer is over, now what?

On Sunday at 1:43 pm, we officially say goodbye to summer and welcome in the shiny new season of autumn.

When I returned from my summer road trip to Ibiza, I decided to use the rest of the summer to finish building the new online coaching program I have been working on since the start of the year. So, apart from a few stories on Instagram, I have spent little time on social media and avoided blogging. But now that summer is over, it's time to get back to blogging and social media and start promoting the program.

This blog is me getting back to blogging and also a chance to mention my new program. So, let's start with the program.

"The 12 Habits Program" is a simple idea. It's all the good stuff I have learned over 25 years involved in personal development. Stuff I have used myself or with clients, stuff I know works, neatly packaged into 12 simple habits I can help you master. It's a year-long audio course with full accountability through a private online community and group coaching. I think it's pretty special. You can check it out at https://www.garethboot.com/tthp.

Now it's time to share a few thoughts about autumn and how you could use it to improve yourself.

Autumn is a great time to focus on your personal development. You still have a big chunk of the year left, and even if it's not been great up to now, you have over three months left to turn that around. And you can do a shed load of great things in three months.

So if you want to "Be A Better YOU", this time of year is a gilt-edged opportunity to take your mental and physical wellbeing to another level.

Many people slow down as we get to the darker, colder months. They start to wish away the year. It all becomes about Christmas and being hunkered down on the couch, watching dumb shit on TV, wrapped in a duvet drinking hot chocolate.

But you can choose to be different and use this time of year to improve, especially physically. The gyms are quieter, and working out on a morning outside when it's colder and darker builds discipline, resilience and grit. Three characteristics that will serve you well in any area of your life.

If you don't have a regular fitness regime, it could be the perfect time to change that and start getting into better shape. This one habit alone of moving daily will have a huge impact on your wellbing.

I know for myself that the feeling I get heading to the gym at 5 am in the cool air, enjoying the whiff of fallen leaves, is somewhat addictive. It's a great way to start the day; I know I am getting fitter mentally and physically doing it, and I come back knowing I have started the day with a win. And any day that begins with a win is never a bad day.

So, get hooked on that feeling and get after it, and by the start of the new year, you will be in a completely different place, physically and mentally.

Suppose you like the sound of all this but don't know where to start. Well, the 12 Habits program would be perfect for you.

I will end this blog with my version of a quote from that wonderful, heartwarming family film Apocalypse Now: "I love the smell of autumn in the morning. It smells like...Victory."

Now go smash autumn.

Take Care
