This blog is about doing challenging things and why they are good for us.
I have been an early riser most of my life. For me, waking up at 5 am is no big deal; I enjoy it, and it's become easy. But doing easy stuff does not help us grow, so I set a goal to start waking up even earlier. I have been rolling out of bed well before 4 am for three months. It was tough at first, but now it's becoming easier.
But why am I doing this, and what's it got to do with you?
Well, I believe building resilience and mental grit are essential to be able to navigate this game we call life. Let's be honest; life does have a way of sending us unexpected dumb shit and challenges to deal with, so developing a strong mindset and resilience to handle it is a smart move. And this year, one of my goals has been to increase my resilience and grit.
The 4 am start is just one of several challenging things I have brought in; I will save the others for future blogs.
When you get comfortable with being uncomfortable, life's curve balls are easier to manage. So, if you want life to be easier on you, be tougher on yourself.
The key to personal growth is continuously challenging yourself and pushing your limits. Doing so will make you more resilient, adaptable, and better equipped to handle whatever life throws at you. Start small and gradually increase the level of difficulty. Embrace the discomfort, and you'll be amazed at how much you can achieve.
So, if you like the idea of toughening up your mindset and building resilience, start doing things you find challenging. Start small and gradually increase the level of difficulty. Embrace the discomfort, and you'll be amazed at how much you can achieve.
It's like lifting weights for your resilience muscle, and like lifting weights with any muscle, the more you lift, the stronger it becomes.
Once the 4 am waking becomes too easy, I will look at ways to make it more challenging and more demanding, but there has to come a point at which it needs to stop; otherwise, by the start of spring, I will be getting up before I go to sleep. Lol.
Take Care
