Make the most of it

I had a little trip into town earlier today to get a couple of bits to complete my Christmas shopping. I was not the only one; it was rammed.

The whole place had a buzz about it, a delightful mix of festive feelings mixed with the faint whiff of panic from blokes who clearly had no idea what to get and were picking up anything they could lay their hands on.

As I wandered through TK Maxx, I observed a bloke carrying a rather spectacular and large table decoration depicting a woodland scene of two mice and a fox in Christmas hats toasting marshmallows over an open fire.

I watched him navigate the narrow isles, bumping into every shelf he passed.

By the time he got to the checkout queue, the hats had fallen off the animals, the marshmallows from the sticks, and the bushy tail off the fox.

I was not the only one chuckling at him, and he had no idea why people were smiling at him; he just beamed a smile back.

Anyway, this blog is not about clumsy shoppers; it is, in fact, about making the most of opportunities before they are gone.

A week today is Boxing Day, and the festive period will be all but over for another year. So my question is, will you make the most of the next few days and enjoy the festive feeling before it's too late?

Don't be all "bah humbug" about it; embrace it. And if you're not a fan of this time of year, maybe this year is the chance to get involved and catch some of the festive spirit. I guarantee if you do, you will be a convert, and Christmas will forever be a magical time.

I do hope the bloke in TK Maxx noticed what had happened to his item before he paid for it because if not, he will now be the owner of a rather less-than-festive and somewhat sinister-looking scene of a couple of rats and a ginger dog having a stick fight.

Take Care
