Thank you Mike

At 6'1" with a slim build, running is pretty close to the top of all the sports I was anatomically built for.

Yet despite being gifted with such a physique, I have always struggled to be good at or derive any real pleasure from the activity.

No matter how far I run, the only bit of it I enjoy is when I get back to my front door and stop my Garmin watch.

Then, for the next 15 minutes or so, I sit on my couch basking in a sense of achievement before the realisation hits me that I must do it all over again tomorrow.

It would be safe to say I have a love-hate relationship with running...mostly hate.

I have tried to quit many times, but I keep coming back.

Why?

Firstly, the health benefits are just too good. It keeps the heart strong and is especially good for keeping mental health on point.

And secondly, it builds discipline.

"Discipline is doing what you hate to do, but do it like you love it." Mike Tyson said that.

To succeed at anything in life, personally or professionally, you will need discipline, and there is no better way to develop it than taking on an activity that's good for you. Still, you don't want to do it.

So, getting yourself out and racking up some miles would be a smart move if you want to be more disciplined and have a healthier body and mind.

I live in the eternal hope that one day, I will be a good runner who can't wait to get out of bed and hit the pavement. But until that day, I will use Mr Tyson's quote to inspire me to lace the trainers up and get my arse out of the door.

Thank you Mike, thank you for that one.

Take Care
